Melissa Lucar

Melissa Lucar is an associate at Buchalter, APC and is a member of the firm’s Corporate practice group. Ms. Lucar focuses her practice on mergers and acquisitions, private placements of securities, compliance with securities laws, financial transactions, and general corporate matters. She has assisted clients in a wide range of industries including real estate financing, entertainment, private equity, and technology.

Ms. Lucar graduated from the University of California, Irvine with a triple major in Economics, Psychology, and Criminology, Law & Society. She received her Juris Doctor from the University of California, Davis in 2015. While in law school, Ms. Lucar clerked for the Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles’ Eviction Defense division, where she represented tenants in numerous unlawful detainer proceedings, negotiated settlements, and provided community classes where she educated tenants on their housing rights. Ms. Lucar was also an Honors Legal Fellow to Commissioner Hochschild at the California Energy Commission, where she analyzed Mexico’s implementation of renewable energy portfolio standards in support of its MOUs with California. She also clerked for the Orange County Public Defender’s Office, where she assisted in capital punishment cases by analyzing and compiling evidence used in support of mitigation of punishment in capital cases and other serious and violent felonies. Ms. Lucar is originally from Lima, Peru and came to the U.S. when she was 12 years old.
