Casillas v. Landstar Ranger, Inc: A $34,555,220 jury verdict for a 19-year-old man who suffered a below-the-knee amputation after he was struck by the trailer of a semi-truck while he was standing on a sidewalk. The truck driver drove a 55-foot-long trailer over the sidewalk, striking plaintiff's bicycle and knocking him to the ground. The rear wheels of the trailer ran over his left leg, causing him severe injuries which resulted in a lower leg amputation.
Doe Minor v. Roe Property Owner: A $10,000,000 settlement obtained before the preference trial date for a three-year-old child who suffered a severe traumatic brain injury after falling from the third floor down to the second floor of an apartment complex due to inadequate stairwell railings.
