LLBA Career Summit: Empowering Latinas in All Legal Fields

Join us for LLBA’s 2022 Career Summit at UCLA Law School!

This Career Summit will offer attendees the opportunity to attend a series of panels that are focused on empowering Latinas at every stage in their legal career. Whether you are a law student who is uncertain about your career goals, have been a practicing attorney for more than 20 years, or are looking to transition to an alternative legal career, the LLBA Career Summit will provide attendees with guidance on how to navigate each career path.

Attendees will have the opportunity to attend one of two panels during each of the three sessions. The sessions will consist of the following panels:

Session 1

Panel 1 — Going Solo: Going solo offers lawyers unparalleled freedom, but also requires serious consideration. This panel will provide a multi-perspective discussion on deciding to start your own practice and exploring the challenges and opportunities of being your own boss.

Panel 2 — Looking Behind the Curtain of Public Service: There’s always more than meets the eye. This panel will consist of a candid conversation about the day-to-day practice of law in public service and public interest work. Panelists will share the rewards and challenges of the job.

Session 2

Panel 1 — Big Law: This panel will provide a diverse perspective on navigating a career in big law. From getting hired, to understanding office culture, and considering long-term implications of working in big law, the panel will share valuable insight for entry level attorneys to senior attorneys.

Panel 2 — Alternative Legal Careers: A law degree and the experience you gained as a lawyer can assist you in a variety of industries. This panel will explore alternative legal careers from careers in production to careers in academia.

Session 3

Panel 1 — In-House: This panel will focus on the evolution of attorneys that transition to play a managerial role overseeing legal matters for organizations.

Panel 2 — Lateral Transitions: What Now? This panel will provide mid-level attorneys considering a shift in their career with practical tips on how to effectively pursue and secure their next job.
