In Memory of Mary V. Orozco | September 24, 1928 – June 5, 2019

It is with our deepest sorrow that the Latina Lawyers Bar Association informs the legal community of the passing of Mary V. Orozco. The prestigious LLBA Abriendo Caminos Award was created to honor Ms. Orozco’s legacy:

Elizabeth Macias appointed by Governor Brown

LLBA congratulates our board member Elizabeth Macias whom Governor Brown appointed to a seat on the Orange County Superior Court bench. Macias, 41, of Orange, has served as deputy federal public defender at the Office of the Federal Public Defender for the Central District of California since 1999.

Senate Confirms Magistrate Judge Fernando M. Olguin

On December 17, 2012, by voice vote, the United States Senate confirmed President Barack Obama’s nomination of Magistrate Judge Fernando M. Olguin to serve as a federal district judge for the United States District Court for the Central District of California.  Judge Olguin, who was nominated by President Obama on May 14, 2012, will preside over matters in Los Angeles in the Court’s Western Division.

Senate Confirms Jesus G. Bernal as U.S. District Judge

On December 11, 2012, the United States Senate confirmed President Barack Obama’s nomination of Jesus G. Bernal to serve as a federal district judge for the United States District Court for the Central District of California.  Bernal, who was nominated by President Obama on April 25, 2012, will preside over matters in Riverside in the Court’s Eastern Division.
