Verónica Ramos is a Deputy Public Defender at the Office of the Los Angeles County Public Defender. Ms. Ramos has served in roles such as Misdemeanor and Felony Trial Attorney, Juvenile Defense Attorney, Deputy-in-Charge, and Recruitment Coordinator. Her career is distinguished by a steadfast commitment to defending the rights of the underserved and ensuring equitable legal representation. In addition to her professional work, Ms. Ramos has served as past president and board member of the Latino Public Defenders Association. She has actively fundraised for important causes, including scholarships for underprivileged high school students, support programs for formerly incarcerated individuals, and aid for unaccompanied minors.
A proud daughter of parents from Jalisco, Mexico, and the youngest of six children, Ms. Ramos was profoundly influenced by her family’s resilience and dedication to justice. As the first lawyer in her family, she earned her Bachelor of Arts from the University of California, Los Angeles, and Juris Doctorate from the University of California, Law San Francisco (formerly University of California, Hastings College of the Law). While in law school, Ms. Ramos was co-president of the American Bar Association Law Students Division, staff and production editor of the Business Law Journal and graduated with a concentration in Civil Litigation.
